Lesson 35: Bright Sky - Dark Land (Color Drawing)
Draw a margin around each work this week as described in Lesson 33. Recreate the lesson image using the colors as described below. With a free, even stroke, wash in the sky, making it even and as smooth as possible. With a heavier stroke, wash in the land, and then with a still heavier stroke, wash in the trees. Draw in the remaining details.
- Color entirely in black, leaving the sky the color of the paper.
- Place a strong wash of yellow over the whole, both sky and land. Then with violet color the trees and ground very dark.
- Place a light wash of orange over the whole, both sky and land: Go over the sky with a wash of yellow. Color the trees and ground with blue.
- Place a strong wash of blue over the sky and a stronger wash over the ground and trees, then color the trees with orange.
- Place a strong wash of blue over the sky and a stronger wash over the ground and trees. Work green into the tree trunks and ground, and then brighten with yellow.
